The average person in the Western World is now said to produce about four pounds of waste in a day. You don't have to be trained as an environmental scientist to know that this is just too much for the Earth to sustain for long. One of the ways that you can reduce how much you're throwing away is by packing a green lunch for yourself and the other members of your household. You could bring it to work as a dentist instead of ordering out or could send your kids to school with it. Here are some tips for doing just that.

The first green change that most people make is replacing those plastic and paper bags with reusable alternatives. If you're bringing your lunch to work at a strapping machine manufacturer than you might not want to bring a lunch box like those you had in grade school but there are lots of alternatives for us grown ups. Many companies are now selling complete lunch packages that give you everything from a lunch bag to the containers that you will use for your food.

When you're thinking about packaging you should also consider what companies you're buying from and how much commitment they have to the environment. Buying single servings that are individually wrapped might be more convenient when you're running out of the house on the way to showing Toronto Real Estate for Sale but buying in bulk means less waste. There are also many companies today that are going the extra mile to try to do their part to reduce the amount of packaging that they are using or to use recycled material.

Buy local. When you're considering your impact on the environment you should also think about how your food is getting to your door. That apple that you're bringing as a snack during your course could come from the farm down the road or from halfway around the world. Farming is actually one of the industries that puts the most strain on our Planet and one of the ways that you can help is by buying those things that are made close to home. This goes for school lunches and all of the things that you're serving at the dinner table.

When you first start to make adjustments to go green it can seem like a lot of work and extra time. And that's something that a lot of people who are working as a doctor or a member of the OAA don't have a lot of. But you will find that once you have made the change that it becomes less and less of a chore and more a part of your daily life.
